Colleen and Matt are such an incredible pair, very outgoing, adventurous and both have such a good sense of humor. I knew their engagement session was going to be something to look forward to! Matt grew up around the water and often went out on his families boat. He has carried that adventure through with his own boat these days, going out on weekends and holidays with Colleen and their friends.
When we first chatted about their engagement session, Matt and Colleen knew they wanted to be by the water. The hunt was on to find the perfect location for their session. It was Matt that actually stumbled upon Summit Marina in Bear, Delaware. The marina is near Lums Ponds for a frame of reference, tucked away on a back road sitting right off the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. A quiet and beautiful setting with gorgeous sail boats and numerous docks to stroll around…and maybe a little window shopping, a girl can dream!
September 3rd was wicked hot with a ‘feels-like’ temp around 100, but more importantly, clear of rain which is a constant factor this time of year. With an upcoming wedding planned for November, we knew it was either now or see you on your wedding day! Braving the heat with water bottles, a mindful clock and graciously accepting any semblance of a breeze, we captured some of my favorite engagement session photos to date. Golden hour (within two hours of sunset) in the fall might be considered ideal for some, but give me the summer heat, the right attitude and mid-afternoon sunshine like Colleen and Matt’s engagement day and I’m happy girl!
