Fall weddings, with the backdrop of the changing leaves and cooler temperatures, are some of the most magical days of the year. French Creek Golf Club in Pennsylvania is a favorite fall wedding venue. It’s an idyllic setting, especially with the changing colors of fall, creating a beautiful backdrop for wedding portraits. Val and Josh’s wedding affair at French creek embraced the fall season with a perfect mix of rustic charm and elegant details. 

Their fall wedding colors included shades of navy, cabernet, white, ivory, pops of blush, and eucalyptus. The cabernet bridesmaids dresses were beautiful, each a different style chosen by the attendant. The wedding bouquets paired beautifully with the dresses, created by Blue Moon Florist. The bouquets featured burgundy flowers that were balanced by ivory and blush pink flowers and green eucalyptus. It was such a romantic color combination!  Val’s bouquet was wrapped with a special charm, a photo of her father and brother who sadly passed, but with her in spirit. It was such a sweet way to include them on her wedding day. 

Val and Josh infused other special details throughout their wedding day. Val gifted Josh custom cufflinks that featured photos of their dog! He was lucky enough to join them for their engagement session, but unfortunately didn’t make the guest list for their wedding day. Val’s beautiful necklace was a wedding gift from Josh. Val boasted that Josh has excellent taste and a great eye, which I’d have to agree with!  A dear friend made them an ivy wall that had a neon sign reading, “The Spears.”  It was the perfect photo-op during the reception! 

Fall Wedding at French Creek Golf Club

Before their ceremony, the couple met on the docks at French Creek for their first look. It was so sweet capturing their reactions and seeing Josh get a little emotional at the sight of his bride. The golden yellow and burnt orange leaves created a stunning natural scenery for portraits following the first look.

After their beautiful wedding ceremony the couple and their guests celebrated in the venue’s luxurious ballroom. The gorgeous details continued with the perfect balance of elegance and rustic charm thanks to Val’s eye for detail and planning. I loved the natural wood slice centerpieces that held candles and a few loose flowers. 

Val and Josh met at James Madison University (JMU), just like my husband and I!  Go Duuuukes! To pay tribute to how the couple met, they had their flower girls and ring bearers carry in a JMU sign during the reception entrances! It was such a sweet way to highlight the start of their relationship as they celebrated the start of this new chapter in their lives.  As the evening winded down, the couple did the traditional cake cutting. Val surprised Josh by smashing cake in his face! However, he is so calm and mild mannered he didn’t even flinch. It was such a fun, candid moment that no one expected and I am so glad I was able to capture it. The perfect ending to a day full of so much love and laughter.

Val and Josh, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wedding experience. I loved getting to know you both and I wish you both a lifetime of love, happiness and of course, laughter!
