Intimate Cape May Wedding | Sam + Ricky
Sam and Ricky’s intimate Cape May wedding took place near the seashore of New Jersey. Surrounded by their closest friends and family they exchanged vows at St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church. Built in 1876 as a temporary building, this historic church has clearly stood the test of time. The bride and groom were thrilled to be married at the church! Sam and Ricky wrote their own vows, which were so sweet and heartfelt. During Sam’s vows she declared that while they would have been okay separately, but that they chose to be together. Something few people acknowledge, let alone say in their vows which made them ever so much more heartfelt and profound.
Intimate Cape May Wedding
Leading up to their ceremony the weather was all over the place. The day started with intense wind gusts and rain as preparations began, but thankfully, the sun decided to pop out behind the clouds just as Sam and Ricky were pronounced as husband and wife! It was magic. Following the ceremony, Sam had been so looking forward to taking photos on the beach. With clear and sunny skies, we walked the few steps across the street
We were all so happy the weather took a drastic turn for the better, as Sam was very excited for their post-ceremony wedding portraits on the beach!
After walking the beach and capturing the newlyweds and their wedding party, we headed to a nearby lighthouse. This lighthouse is special to Sam and Ricky as it is where they got engaged! I love that they will be able to relive both the moment of their engagement and their magical wedding day whenever they look back on their wedding photos. After visiting the lighthouse, we explored areas around the venue property to grab a few more photos.
The Wedding Details
Sam was such a stunning bride! She wore a beautiful, off-shoulder wedding dress from BHLDN with bubble sleeves and intricate floral details. Their wedding florals were from The Flower Company and were absolutely gorgeous! Sam LOVED her bouquet of hot pink, blush, and pale orange flowers with vibrant greens. I had so much fun capturing her details while accenting with the different colorful blooms. The same bright flowers decorated the tables at the reception.
Sam and Ricky had the most wonderful wedding planner, Crystal, from Shore Thing Event Services. Crystal and her team brought Sam’s wedding vision to life, carefully planning and executing each detail. One of my favorites was their invitation suite which included their wedding song inscribed on the inside. Such a fun and unique touch! The thoughtfulness was carried throughout the day and into the reception details. Each place card was a personalized clam shell with each guest’s handpainted name. The tables were named after various beaches around Cape May! As wedding favors, the couple gave guests local honey and olive oil. All unique details that wove together seamlessly, showcasing Sam and Ricky’s personalities and bringing their wedding day to life.
Sam and Ricky, capturing your wedding day was an absolute joy! Your love and easy laughter is inspiring and I am so thankful for the opportunity to capture your wedding day. Congratulations and cheers to you both!
